Wardrobes in Oxted
Oxted is really two places in one. Old Oxted, along its historic High Street, has some of the oldest buildings in the area, with cottages and period homes full of character. New Oxted grew up around the railway station from the late Victorian era, with Edwardian and 1930s houses on the roads climbing towards the North Downs. Add Limpsfield’s conservation area, the family homes of Hurst Green and the larger houses tucked into the surrounding countryside, and you get a wide range of rooms to work with.
That’s why we never start with a standard size. Older cottages bring low ceilings and walls that aren’t square; Edwardian and 1930s homes bring chimney breasts and bay windows; loft conversions bring sloping ceilings. We measure your room, talk through what you need to store and design a wardrobe that fits it exactly, inside and out.
Every wardrobe is made in our own Dorking workshop and fitted by our own team. Our growing number of Oxted customers can see door styles and finishes at our showroom, which has free parking, or we can bring samples to your home for a one-to-one design consultation.

Our services
Every wardrobe and piece of furniture is designed for your room, made in our workshop and fitted by our own team.
Made-to-Measure Wardrobes
From the cottages of Old Oxted to the loft conversions of family homes on the hillside, many Oxted rooms simply won’t take a standard wardrobe. We measure every slope, beam and uneven wall and build the wardrobe to fit, using infill panels to square up the opening and doors shortened or angled to sit beneath a ceiling line. Alcoves either side of a chimney breast get matching wardrobes made to their exact widths. You’ll see your design as hand-drawn plans or CGI images before anything is made, and every panel is cut and edged to your measurements in our workshop.
Bedroom Furniture
Bedroom furniture is a big part of what our Oxted customers ask for. We make dressing tables, chests of drawers, bedside cabinets, headboards, sideboards and shelving to your exact measurements, finished to match your wardrobe doors or chosen to complement them. In an older home, that means furniture that fits uneven alcoves and low windowsills properly. Drawers run on full-extension runners with soft-close options, and we can deliver or install.
Fitted Wardrobes
In the Edwardian and 1930s homes of New Oxted and Hurst Green, a fitted wardrobe built from floor to ceiling and wall to wall gives you far more storage than freestanding furniture, with no gaps at the top or sides. We build as a front frame using your walls and ceiling, or as a full carcass with its own sides and back. Sliding or hinged doors, in an almost unlimited choice of finishes. Inside, every shelf, rail and drawer is planned around what you need to store.
Sliding Wardrobes
Small bedrooms and rooms where the bed sits close to the wardrobe suit sliding doors, which glide sideways and need no clearance. Mirrored doors help a cottage room with small windows feel lighter. Choose our slim Lazuryt frame or the bolder Shaker style, with mirror, coloured glass or panel infills, and every sliding door carries a 10-year warranty on its movement. Shaker doors can be shortened to sit beneath a low or sloping ceiling, and both systems are on display at our showroom.
Walk-In Wardrobes
Walk-in wardrobes are extremely practical, not just a luxury. If there’s room, a spare bedroom or part of a larger bedroom can become a walk-in area, with storage planned around your clothes: long and double hanging, pull-down rails, drawers, trouser racks and shoe storage, open or behind sliding doors. In the larger homes on the hillside and in the surrounding countryside, a full dressing room with a dressing table is often possible. In a smaller home, an alcove or corner can become a compact walk-in closet.
Hinged Wardrobes
Framed and panelled hinged doors suit Oxted’s period homes and Limpsfield’s conservation area houses, giving full access to the interior and the look of fine furniture. Our Aspire range offers over 50 styles in almost 60 colours, made to measure up to 2.5m tall with soft-close hinges as standard. Painted oak effect and woodgrain finishes suit older homes particularly well, while Super Matt colours suit a fresher look. Mirrors can be fitted inside the doors, and handles chosen to complement original features. Hinged doors need space to open, so in smaller rooms we’ll suggest sliding doors.
Working from home in Oxted? We design fitted desks, shelving and storage to turn a spare room or alcove into a practical office.
Older staircases often hide awkward space. We build made-to-measure drawers, cupboards and shelving that fit it exactly.
Local advice
Whatever doors you choose, it’s the interior that decides how well your wardrobe works. These are our top design tips for Oxted customers planning a bespoke wardrobe.
1
A section of full-height hanging is essential for longer coats, dresses and suits. Plan it based on how many long items you actually own, so space isn’t wasted.
2
Split sections with two hanging rails, one above the other, are perfect for shirts, blouses, jackets and folded trousers, and can almost double your hanging capacity.
3
Pull-out shoe racks or shelves at the bottom of the wardrobe keep shoes organised and easy to see, rather than piled on the floor.
4
Drawers are ideal for underwear, socks, scarves and gloves. Dividers can keep jewellery, cosmetics and accessories organised. All our drawers run on full-extension runners, so you can reach right to the back.
5
Shelves are perfect for jumpers, handbags kept upright and luggage. High-level shelves are a good home for things you only need occasionally, such as spare bedding and out-of-season clothes.
6
The best interiors start with your own clothes, not a standard layout. At your consultation, we’ll talk through what you need to store and design every section to suit.
Local homes
Low ceilings and uneven walls in Old Oxted: cottages and period homes that rarely have a square corner.
Chimney breasts and bay windows: common in Edwardian and 1930s homes.
Loft conversions on the hillside: sloping ceilings and eaves to build around.
Small cottage bedrooms: limited space for doors to open and little natural light.
Conservation area homes in Limpsfield: period features worth working around carefully.
Compact flats near the station: small bedrooms where every inch of wall counts.
