Wardrobes in Esher
Esher’s homes range from substantial detached houses on its leafy private roads to Victorian villas near the town centre, 1930s family homes in Hinchley Wood and Claygate, and modern apartments close to the high street. Many have generous bedrooms with plenty of options for where and how a wardrobe could go, which makes good design advice especially valuable.
We start every project by understanding the room and how you live in it. In a large main bedroom, that might mean a full wall of floor-to-ceiling doors, a walk-in dressing room or a combination of both. In a guest room or a flat, it’s about making a compact space work hard without feeling crowded.
Whatever you choose, it’s designed around you, made in our own Dorking workshop and fitted by our own team. You can see both our sliding door systems and our hinged door styles at our showroom, which has free parking, or we can bring samples to you in Esher.

Our services
From a full wall of sliding doors to a dressing room, every service is made in our workshop and fitted by our team.
Sliding Wardrobes
In a large Esher bedroom, a run of sliding doors across a whole wall looks striking, and because sliding doors can be much wider than hinged ones, you need fewer of them, with fewer joins and a cleaner line. Choose our slim Lazuryt frame for a refined, architectural look, or the Shaker style for a bolder, framed finish, with mirror, grey mirror, AGC coloured glass or panel infills. Lazuryt’s hidden bottom rollers mean it can even be used as a sliding partition, for example between a bedroom and a dressing area. Every sliding door carries a 10-year warranty on its movement.
Walk-In Wardrobes
Many Esher homes have the space for a dedicated dressing room, whether that’s a spare bedroom next to the main bedroom or part of a large main bedroom screened off with sliding doors. We plan storage across several walls, around your clothes and accessories, with pull-down hanging rails, long and double hanging, drawers on full-extension runners, trouser racks, tie and belt racks and shoe storage. The result is a calm, organised space to get ready in. Mirrors can be fitted inside doors or on an end panel, and a pull-out mirror can be built into a unit, so you can see your outfit without leaving the room.
Hinged Wardrobes
When there’s room for doors to open, hinged wardrobes give you full access to the whole interior and the look of fine furniture. Framed and panelled Aspire styles complement Esher’s period homes, while flat Super Matt or High Gloss doors suit contemporary interiors. With over 50 styles in almost 60 colours, made to measure up to 2.5m tall and fitted with soft-close hinges as standard, they can be designed to suit any room. Mirrors can be fitted to the inside of doors, and handles chosen to match the rest of the room, from traditional bow handles to slim modern bars.
Fitted Wardrobes
Built from floor to ceiling and wall to wall, a fitted wardrobe gives you far more storage than freestanding furniture and leaves no gaps above or at the sides. We build either as a front frame, using the room’s walls and ceiling, or as a full carcass with its own sides and back, and plan every section of the interior around what you need to store. Sliding or hinged doors, or a mix, in an almost unlimited choice of finishes. In Esher’s larger bedrooms, a full wall of fitted wardrobes often replaces several separate pieces of furniture, making the room feel calmer and more spacious.
Bedroom Furniture
To complete the room, we make dressing tables, chests of drawers, bedside cabinets, headboards, sideboards and shelving to your exact measurements, finished to match or complement your wardrobe doors. A dressing table can be built into a dressing room, or a media unit can give a bedroom TV a neat home. Drawers run on full-extension runners with soft-close options. In a large bedroom, a sideboard or a run of drawers can add storage and a surface for display, finished to match the wardrobes so the whole room feels designed together. Come and see the finishes at our Dorking showroom.
Made-to-Measure Wardrobes
Even in large homes, there are spaces that standard furniture can’t fill: sloping loft ceilings, alcoves beside chimney breasts and openings that aren’t square. We measure every angle and build to fit, using infill panels and shortened or angled doors so the wardrobe looks as though it has always been part of the house. You’ll see the design as hand-drawn plans or CGI images first. Every panel is cut and edged to your exact measurements in our workshop.
For a study or spare room, we design fitted desks, shelving and storage that match the quality and finishes of the rest of your home.
Make use of the space under the stairs with made-to-measure drawers, cupboards and shelving, built to follow the slope exactly.
Local advice
In a small room, the space in front of the wardrobe usually decides between sliding and hinged doors for you. In the larger bedrooms common in Esher, both work, so the choice comes down to style and how you’ll use the wardrobe. These are the questions we help our customers think through. For a full side-by-side comparison, see our sliding wardrobes page.
1
Hinged doors open to reveal the whole interior in one go, which some people love when choosing an outfit. Sliding doors show one section at a time.
2
On a long wall, sliding doors can be made much wider than hinged doors, which are limited to around 600mm each, so you’ll have fewer doors and a cleaner line. A run of hinged doors, on the other hand, creates a rhythm of panels that suits traditional rooms.
3
Framed, panelled hinged doors with cornices suit period homes. Sleek sliding doors with mirror or coloured glass suit contemporary rooms. Both can be made in finishes to match the rest of the room.
4
In a large room, you don’t have to choose. Sliding doors across the main run with hinged doors in a recess, or a walk-in area behind sliding doors, can give you the best of both.
Local homes
Large rooms that deserve more than freestanding furniture: generous bedrooms need storage designed around every wall.
Long walls: many doors can look busy, so door width and layout matter.
Period features: fireplaces, cornices and alcoves to design around.
Converted lofts: sloping ceilings and eaves in extended homes.
Compact flats near the high street: small rooms where every inch counts.
Dressing rooms in larger homes: spare bedrooms or box rooms turned into walk-in wardrobes, designed as one scheme across several walls.
