Wardrobes in Cobham
Cobham is known for its substantial family homes, from the detached houses on the roads around Fairmile and Downside to the period properties near the old village centre by the River Mole. Many of them have generous bedrooms, high ceilings and space for a proper dressing room, and our customers here usually want storage that matches the quality of the house.
That’s where a bespoke wardrobe makes the difference. Rather than buying furniture that almost fits, we design every wardrobe and dressing room around your room, your clothes and the way you get ready. Whether it’s a full wall of floor-to-ceiling wardrobes, a walk-in with an island of drawers or a guest room that needs to look its best, every piece is built in our own workshop and fitted by our own team.
We also work in the smaller properties around Cobham, from cottages to apartments, where getting the most from a compact room matters just as much. You can see door systems, hinged door styles and finishes at our Dorking showroom, a short drive away, or we can bring samples to you at a home visit.

Our services
From dressing rooms to a single pair of sliding doors, everything is designed with you and made in our own workshop.
Walk-In Wardrobes
Many Cobham homes have the space for a dedicated dressing room, and it’s one of the most rewarding projects we build. A spare bedroom, a box room next to the main bedroom or part of a large main bedroom can become a walk-in wardrobe with storage on several walls and space to get ready. We plan every rail, drawer and shelf around your clothes and accessories, with pull-down hanging rails to use the full height of the room, trouser racks, tie and belt racks, internal drawers and shoe storage. Leave it open for a boutique feel, or add sliding doors for privacy.
Fitted Wardrobes
In a large bedroom, a run of fitted wardrobes can take a whole wall, from floor to ceiling, with no gaps above or at the sides. It gives you far more storage than freestanding furniture and makes the room feel calm and complete. We build as a front frame, using the room’s walls and ceiling for the most storage, or as a full carcass with its own sides, back, base and lid where a fully lined interior suits better. Choose sliding or hinged doors, or a mix, in an almost unlimited choice of colours and finishes.
Hinged Wardrobes
Hinged doors give a wardrobe the look of fine furniture, which suits many of Cobham’s period and traditional homes. Framed and panelled Aspire styles, cornices and traditional handles sit naturally alongside original features, while flat Super Matt or High Gloss doors give a contemporary home a sleek finish. With over 50 styles in almost 60 colours, made to measure up to 2.5m tall and fitted with soft-close hinges as standard, there’s a combination for every room. For a dressing room or a large main bedroom, a long run of hinged doors with matching handles creates the feel of a traditional fitted bedroom, and mirrors can be fitted to the inside of doors so they’re there when you need them.
Bedroom Furniture
A bespoke wardrobe looks its best when the rest of the room matches its quality. We make dressing tables, chests of drawers, bedside cabinets, headboards, sideboards and shelving to your exact measurements, finished to match your wardrobe doors or to coordinate with them. Drawers run on full-extension runners with soft-close options. A dressing table can be built into a wardrobe run, or a media unit can give a bedroom TV a proper home, so the whole room is designed as one. Come and see the finishes in person at our showroom.
Sliding Wardrobes
Even in larger homes, sliding doors are the practical choice wherever space in front of the wardrobe is limited, such as beside a bed, in a guest room or on a landing. They glide sideways, so they need no clearance. Choose from our slim Lazuryt system or the bolder Shaker style, with mirror, grey mirror, coloured glass or panel infills. Lazuryt’s hidden bottom rollers even allow it to be used as a sliding partition between rooms. Every sliding door carries a 10-year warranty on its movement.
Made-to-Measure Wardrobes
Cobham’s older properties and converted lofts often have rooms that standard furniture can’t fill properly: sloping ceilings, beams, alcoves and walls that aren’t quite square. We measure every angle and build the wardrobe to follow it, using infill panels to square up uneven openings and doors shortened or angled to sit beneath a slope. You’ll see your design as hand-drawn plans or CGI images before anything is made. Older cottages near the River Mole and Church Street often have the most character, and the most awkward corners, which is exactly where made-to-measure storage shines.
For Cobham homes with a study or spare room, we can design fitted desks, shelving and storage finished to match the rest of the house.
Make the most of the space under the stairs with made-to-measure drawers, cupboards and shelving, built to follow the slope exactly.
Local advice
A new wardrobe is the perfect moment for a proper clear-out. Doing it before your survey also helps us design the interior around what you’ll actually keep. This is the method we recommend.
1
Have bags or boxes ready for anything you’re giving away, selling or throwing out, and clear a space such as the bed to lay things on.
2
Empty the wardrobe completely. Seeing everything you own in one place gives you a true picture of how much you have, and what you really wear.
3
Put back the clothes you wear and love without question. It’s a quick win and shows you what your everyday wardrobe really looks like.
4
Anything damaged, ill-fitting or unworn for years can go. Be honest: if you haven’t worn it in a long time, you probably won’t.
5
Coats, ski kit, formal wear and summer clothes don’t need prime space all year. We can design high-level storage or separate sections for them.
6
Good-quality clothes can go to charity, be resold or be altered to fit. Then measure what’s left, so your new wardrobe has room for everything you’ve chosen to keep.
Local homes
Dressing rooms that need careful planning: larger homes deserve storage designed around every wall, not freestanding furniture.
High ceilings: standard wardrobes leave a large empty space above them.
Period features: cornices, fireplaces and alcoves that new storage needs to work around.
Loft and roof rooms: sloping ceilings and eaves in converted spaces.
Guest rooms that need to impress: smaller rooms where sliding doors and good finishes make the difference.
Compact cottages and flats in the village: smaller bedrooms where sliding doors save space.
