Sliding Wardrobes Built for the Room You Actually Have
A sliding wardrobe does more than store your clothes. Because the doors glide sideways rather than swing out, it gives you full-height storage without eating into the floor space in front of it, which makes it the natural choice for smaller bedrooms, landings and rooms where the bed sits close to the wall.
Every sliding wardrobe we make is designed for one specific space. We measure the room, talk through how you use it, and design the doors and interior around that, whether you have a straightforward alcove, a full wall, a sloping ceiling or a corner that standard furniture never quite fits. You see the plans as hand-drawn sketches or full CGI images, whichever you prefer, before anything is made.
Then we build it ourselves. All exterior and interior panels are cut and edged to your measurements in our Dorking workshop, using high-density Egger panels with 2mm ABS edging. The doors run on Komandor aluminium or Spacepro steel profiles, with a choice of mirror, coloured glass and decorative panel finishes. Our own installers fit the finished wardrobe, so the people who designed it are the people who see it through.
If you are a trade customer or planning a DIY project, we also offer the same made-to-measure wardrobes on a supply-only basis.

Choose Your Sliding Door System
The door system sets the look of the whole wardrobe, so we offer two distinct styles, each available in custom sizes.
Lazuryt
Lazuryt has a slim, visible frame with a gently rounded architectural profile that stands out against the door infill. It suits almost any interior, from contemporary and Scandinavian to retro, vintage and industrial schemes. Beyond the looks, it is a genuinely well-engineered system:
- Hidden bottom rollers, so it can also be used as a sliding partition between rooms
- An anti-jump feature that stops doors coming out of the bottom track
- Buffer strips that cushion the door as it closes and help keep dust out
- Bearing-mounted rollers for light, easy sliding and quiet running
- Soft close available

Shaker doors bring a bold framed look that becomes the focal point of the room, with a broad choice of matching frame and panel finishes. Shaker doors can also be angled to follow a sloping ceiling.

Glass and mirror
Mirrored and Coloured Glass Sliding Doors
Mirrored sliding doors are one of the simplest ways to make a bedroom feel bigger and brighter. They bounce natural light around the room, make a small space feel more open and save you finding a spot for a separate full-length mirror. Grey and Storm Grey mirrors give a softer, more contemporary finish than a classic silver mirror.
For colour, we use coloured glass from AGC in two finishes:
Lacobel
A glossy, reflective painted glass that gives a sleek, high-shine finish.
Matelac
A satin, non-reflective painted glass with a softer, modern look.
Both come in a wide palette of colours, and we can show you the full colour charts at the showroom.
Safety matters with glass doors in a family home, so all the mirrors and glass we use for sliding doors comply with the safety requirements of BS 6206.
Glass, mirror and panel finishes can be mixed across a set of doors, so a three-door wardrobe could pair a central mirror with two coloured glass or Shaker panels.
Colours on screen are a guide. Lacobel and Matelac are both by AGC, and we have real samples of every colour in our Dorking showroom.
Sliding or hinged?
Sliding or Hinged Wardrobe Doors: Which Is Right for You?

Space
Sliding doors move sideways, so they need no clearance in front of the wardrobe. Hinged doors swing outwards and need room to open, which can be awkward where a bed, chest of drawers or radiator sits nearby. In a smaller bedroom, sliding doors almost always make better use of the space.

Width
Hinged wardrobe doors have a practical width limit of around 600mm, because a wider door puts too much strain on the hinges. Sliding doors run on a track, so they can be made much wider, which means fewer doors, fewer joins and a cleaner look across a long wall.

Budget
Every made-to-measure wardrobe is priced individually, but sliding wardrobes generally cost less than hinged ones. Hinged doors are usually made from more wood and take longer to fit precisely, while sliding doors use aluminium or steel profiles with glass, mirror or panel infills.
Both have their place, and we make both. The right choice usually comes down to three things. Hinged doors do give full access to the whole interior at once and suit more traditional rooms, so if that matters more to you, see our hinged wardrobes. We will happily talk through both at your home survey.
Interiors
A Sliding Wardrobe Interior Planned Around You
What is behind the doors matters just as much as the doors themselves. We plan every interior around your belongings, so everything has a place and nothing ends up piled on a chair at the end of the bed.
Your interior can include shelving, shoe shelves, floors and hanging rails at the heights you need, with long hanging for coats and dresses and double hanging for shirts. Drawers run on full-extension runners, so you can see right to the back of each one. Every interior panel is made from high-density Egger board and finished with the same 2mm ABS edging as the outside.

Are sliding wardrobes good for small bedrooms?
Yes, they are usually the best choice for a small bedroom. Sliding doors need no clearance to open, so you can place a bed or chest of drawers closer to the wardrobe, and mirrored doors make the room feel larger and brighter.
Can you replace the doors on my existing sliding wardrobe?
Yes. We make replacement sliding doors for existing built-in wardrobes, measured and made to fit your opening, so you can update the look without replacing the whole wardrobe.
Can a sliding wardrobe fit under a sloping ceiling?
Yes. Because everything is made to measure, we can design around sloping ceilings, awkward angles and uneven walls. Shaker doors can even be angled to follow the line of the ceiling.
Are mirrored sliding doors safe?
Yes. All the mirrors and glass we use in our sliding doors comply with the safety requirements of BS 6206.
What warranty do your sliding wardrobes come with?
We give a 10-year warranty on all movement of the sliding doors on our custom wardrobes.
How long does it take to fit a sliding wardrobe?
Most wardrobes take around a day to install, while larger or more complex designs can take a little longer. We will give you a realistic timeframe when we plan your wardrobe.
Do you offer supply only for trade or DIY?
Yes. Builders, carpenters, developers and DIY customers can order our made-to-measure panels and doors on a supply-only basis, cut and finished to the sizes and finishes you specify.
Can I see the doors before I order?
Yes. Both door systems, along with a range of finishes, are on display at our Dorking showroom. Visits are by appointment, so call us on 01306 741488 to arrange a time.
How much does a sliding wardrobe cost?
Every sliding wardrobe is made to measure, so the price depends on the size, the door system, the finishes and the interior you choose. We provide a clear quote once we have seen your room and agreed a design.
