Wardrobes in Haywards Heath
Haywards Heath grew up around its railway station in the Victorian era, and the town still has plenty of the period houses and Edwardian villas from that time, many with high ceilings, bay windows and chimney breasts. Later decades added family homes and estates across the town, and newer developments have brought modern houses and apartments. Close by, Lindfield’s historic High Street and Cuckfield’s old village centre have cottages and timber-framed homes with real character.
Every one of those homes has its own storage challenges. In a period house, it’s about building around fireplaces and making the most of tall rooms. In a newer home or apartment, it’s often about compact bedrooms with little built-in storage. We design every wardrobe around the room you have and the way you live, so it fits perfectly and works hard every day.
Each wardrobe is made in our own Dorking workshop and fitted by our own team. You can see door systems, mirror and glass finishes and hinged styles at our showroom, which has free parking, or we can bring samples to your home.

Our services
Every service is designed for your room, made in our workshop and fitted by our own team.
Sliding Wardrobes
Made-to-measure sliding wardrobes are one of our most popular requests in Haywards Heath. Because the doors glide sideways, they need no clearance, which makes them ideal for compact bedrooms and rooms where the bed sits close to the wardrobe. Mirrored doors are a favourite, reflecting light around the room and doing away with the need for a separate full-length mirror. Choose silver, grey or Storm Grey mirror, AGC coloured glass or panels, on our slim Lazuryt frame or the bolder Shaker system. All glass and mirror complies with BS 6206, and every sliding door carries a 10-year warranty on its movement.
Fitted Wardrobes
A fitted wardrobe built from floor to ceiling and wall to wall gives you far more storage than freestanding furniture, with no gaps at the top or sides for clutter and dust. In the town’s period homes, it makes the most of tall rooms; in newer homes, it adds the built-in storage many lack. We build as a front frame using your walls and ceiling, or as a full carcass with its own sides and back, and plan every section inside around what you need to store.
Made-to-Measure Wardrobes
Victorian and Edwardian homes in Haywards Heath often have alcoves of different widths, bay windows and walls that have moved over time, and loft conversions add sloping ceilings. We measure every angle and corner and build to fit, with infill panels to square up uneven openings and doors shortened or angled beneath a slope. You’ll see the design as hand-drawn plans or CGI images first. Older cottages in Lindfield and Cuckfield, with beams and low ceilings, get the same careful approach, and every panel is cut and edged to your measurements in our workshop.
Walk-In Wardrobes
Whether it’s a spare bedroom becoming a dressing room or a corner of a larger bedroom, a walk-in wardrobe gives you space to see everything and get ready in comfort. We plan every rail, drawer and shelf around your clothes, with pull-down hanging rails, trouser racks, tie and belt racks, wire baskets and shoe storage, open or behind sliding doors. In a period home, a small box room next to the main bedroom often makes an ideal dressing room. In a newer house, part of a larger bedroom can be screened off with sliding doors to create a walk-in area.
Hinged Wardrobes
Classic hinged doors suit the period homes of Haywards Heath and Lindfield, giving full access to the whole interior and the look of quality furniture. Our Aspire range offers over 50 styles in almost 60 colours, made to measure up to 2.5m tall with soft-close hinges as standard. Hinged doors need space to open, so in smaller rooms we’ll suggest sliding doors or a mix. Painted oak effect and woodgrain finishes suit period homes, while Super Matt colours give a fresher, modern look. Mirrors can be fitted to the inside of doors, so you have a full-length mirror without giving up wall space.
Bedroom Furniture
We make dressing tables, chests of drawers, bedside cabinets, headboards and shelving to your exact measurements, finished to match or complement your wardrobes. A dressing table can sit in a bay window or a chest of drawers can fit an alcove perfectly, designed as part of one scheme. Drawers run on full-extension runners with soft-close options, and every piece is built from high-density board in our workshop. In a compact apartment bedroom, bedside cabinets made to the exact width of the space beside the bed make a real difference. We deliver locally and can install anything that needs to be fitted.
Commuting less and working from home more? We design fitted desks, shelving and storage to turn a spare room into a practical office.
Turn the space under your stairs into made-to-measure drawers, cupboards and shelving that fit the slope exactly.
Local advice
Many bedrooms in Haywards Heath, from the third bedroom of a family home to the main bedroom of a new apartment, are on the small side. The right wardrobe can make a surprising difference to how big a room feels. These are our top tips.
1
A full-height mirror reflects light and views back into the room, making it feel larger and brighter. It also saves the wall space a separate full-length mirror would take. Grey mirrors give a softer effect if you find silver too bright.
2
Hinged doors need clear floor space to open, which can make a small room feel cramped. Sliding doors sit flat, so you can use the floor right up to the wardrobe.
3
A wardrobe that stops short of the ceiling leaves a visual break and a space for clutter. Taking it all the way up draws the eye upwards and makes the room feel taller.
4
Pale colours, soft greys and clean lines help a room feel airy. If you love a bold colour, use it on one feature rather than every surface.
5
The more that fits inside the wardrobe, the less ends up on the chair and the floor. A well-planned interior is one of the best ways to make a small room feel calm and spacious.
6
Wardrobes, drawers and bedside units in the same finish make a small room feel calmer and more spacious than a mix of separate pieces.
Local homes
Compact bedrooms in newer homes and apartments: little built-in storage and limited floor space.
Bay windows and chimney breasts in period homes: awkward lengths of wall for a wardrobe.
Tall Victorian rooms: freestanding wardrobes waste the height.
Older cottages in Lindfield and Cuckfield: uneven walls and low ceilings.
Loft conversions: sloping ceilings and eaves.
Rooms doing two jobs: spare bedrooms that also serve as a home office, where storage needs to hide away neatly.
