Wardrobes in Guildford
Guildford’s homes are as varied as the town itself. Around the centre and up towards the castle and the cobbled High Street, there are Victorian and Edwardian terraces with chimney breasts and tall, narrow rooms. Onslow Village has its 1920s garden-suburb houses, Merrow and Burpham their interwar and post-war family homes, and new developments continue around the edges of town. There are also plenty of flats, from period conversions to modern apartments.
That range means one size never fits all. A terrace bedroom might need a wardrobe built into an alcove; a family home might want a full wall of sliding doors; a flat might need every inch of a small room to work. We design every wardrobe around your room and what you need to store, rather than adapting a standard product.
Everything is made in our own Dorking workshop and fitted by our own team. You can see sliding door systems, hinged styles and finishes at our showroom, which has free parking, or we can bring samples to you in Guildford.

Our services
From a single pair of replacement doors to a full dressing room, every service is designed for your room and made in our own workshop.
Fitted Wardrobes
A fitted wardrobe makes the most of every inch, which matters in Guildford’s terraces and family homes alike. Built from floor to ceiling and wall to wall, it uses the full height of the room and leaves no gaps at the top or sides. We build as a front frame using your walls and ceiling for the most storage, or as a full carcass with its own sides and back. Inside, every shelf, rail and drawer is planned around what you own, and the doors can be sliding, hinged or a mix.
Sliding Wardrobes
Sliding doors are ideal for Guildford’s smaller bedrooms and flats, because they need no space to swing open. We also make replacement sliding doors for existing built-in wardrobes, a quick way to transform a room without starting again, something we’ve done for flats in Guildford. Choose between our slim Lazuryt frame and the bolder Shaker style, with mirror, grey mirror, coloured glass or panel infills. Every sliding door carries a 10-year warranty on its movement. Mirrored doors help a compact room feel larger, and both systems are on display at our showroom.
Hinged Wardrobes
Hinged wardrobes give full access to the interior and the look of quality furniture. Framed and panelled Aspire doors suit the town’s Victorian and 1920s homes, while flat Super Matt or High Gloss fronts give newer homes a crisp finish. With over 50 styles in almost 60 colours, made to measure up to 2.5m tall and fitted with soft-close hinges as standard, there’s a style for every room. In Onslow Village’s 1920s homes, simple framed doors suit the character of the houses, while a run of hinged doors in a Merrow or Burpham family home gives a traditional fitted bedroom feel.
Made-to-Measure Wardrobes
Alcoves either side of a chimney breast, sloping loft ceilings and walls that aren’t square are all common in Guildford’s older homes. We measure every angle and build the wardrobe to fit, with infill panels to square up openings and doors shortened or angled beneath a slope. You’ll see your design as hand-drawn plans or CGI images before anything is made. Converted lofts in terraces and family homes across the town are a particular speciality, turning eaves into useful storage.
Walk-In Wardrobes
Whether it’s a spare bedroom, part of a large main bedroom or a corner, a walk-in wardrobe gives you space to see everything at once. We plan the interior around your clothes, with long and double hanging, pull-down rails, drawers on full-extension runners, trouser racks, tie and belt racks, wire baskets and shoe storage, open or behind sliding doors. In larger homes around Guildford, a dressing room can also include a dressing table and matching drawers, designed as one so the space feels considered rather than assembled.
Bedroom Furniture
We make dressing tables, chests of drawers, bedside cabinets, headboards and shelving to your exact measurements, finished to match your wardrobe doors. In a narrow terrace bedroom, bespoke furniture can fit spaces that freestanding pieces never could. Bedside cabinets can be made to the exact width of the space beside the bed, a chest of drawers can fit an alcove perfectly, and a dressing table can be built into a wardrobe run. Drawers run on full-extension runners with soft-close options, and we can deliver or install.
Working from home in Guildford? We design fitted desks, shelving and storage for spare rooms, box rooms and alcoves.
In a terrace or semi, the space under the stairs is valuable. We build made-to-measure drawers, cupboards and shelving to fit it exactly.
Local advice
Many Guildford homes have small to medium-sized bedrooms, so even a well-designed wardrobe can feel tight. These tips help you get more from the space, and they’re worth thinking about before your design survey.
1
Long-hanging items such as dresses, coats and suits need full-height space, while shirts and jackets only need half. Double hanging rails for shorter items free up space, and folded clothes can go on shelves or in drawers instead of hangers.
2
You don’t need winter coats and summer dresses within reach all year. Keep the current season at eye level and store the rest higher up, in high-level cupboards or in a separate wardrobe in a spare room.
3
Shoes take up more room than people expect. Dedicated shoe racks or shelves at the bottom of the wardrobe keep them organised and stop them spilling onto the floor.
4
In a smaller room, the space above head height is valuable. Taking the wardrobe up to the ceiling gives you somewhere for luggage, spare bedding and out-of-season clothes.
5
Prioritise hanging space, close it off with doors if you’d rather keep it hidden, and use a chest of drawers in the bedroom for folded items if space inside is tight.
6
Duvets, suitcases and spare bedding take up a lot of room. Keep them on a high shelf, under the bed or in a top box above the wardrobe, so the everyday space is left for clothes.
Local homes
Chimney breast alcoves in terraces: two uneven spaces either side of the fireplace.
Tall, narrow rooms: freestanding wardrobes waste the height.
Small bedrooms and flats: not enough space for hinged doors to open.
Dated built-in wardrobes: sound carcasses with tired doors that could simply be replaced.
Loft conversions: sloping ceilings to build around.
Bay windows in interwar homes: awkward lengths of wall either side of the bay.
