Wardrobes in Cranleigh
Cranleigh is often called one of the largest villages in England, and its homes are as varied as you’d expect. Around the village centre and the High Street there are Victorian and Edwardian houses and older cottages, while later decades added family homes and estates, and newer developments continue on the edge of the village. Out in the surrounding countryside, farmhouses and cottages in the Surrey Hills bring rooms with real character.
That mix is why we always start with your room rather than a catalogue. An older cottage may need a wardrobe built around beams and uneven walls. A family home may want a full wall of sliding doors in the main bedroom and something compact for the children’s rooms. A newer house may simply need storage that makes the most of a modern, square room.
We design every wardrobe around your space and the way you live, make it in our own workshop and fit it with our own team. You can see door styles and finishes at our Dorking showroom, which has free parking, or we can bring samples to you in Cranleigh.

Our services
Every service is designed for your room, made in our workshop and fitted by our own team.
Sliding Wardrobes
Sliding wardrobes are one of our most popular choices in Cranleigh, and for good reason. Because the doors glide sideways, they need no space to open, so they suit smaller bedrooms and rooms where the bed sits close to the wardrobe. Mirrored doors bring extra light into cottage rooms with small windows. Choose between our slim, rounded Lazuryt frame and the bolder Shaker style, in silver, grey or Storm Grey mirror, AGC coloured glass or decorative panels. Every sliding door carries a 10-year warranty on its movement.
Fitted Wardrobes
A fitted wardrobe built from floor to ceiling and wall to wall gives you far more storage than freestanding furniture and makes a bedroom feel calm and finished. We build either as a front frame, using your walls and ceiling as part of the structure, or as a full carcass with its own sides, back, base and lid. Inside, every shelf, rail and drawer is planned around what you need to store. Choose sliding or hinged doors in an almost unlimited choice of finishes. In family homes around the village, it often means the end of clothes piled on chairs.
Hinged Wardrobes
Hinged doors give a wardrobe the look of traditional furniture and full access to everything inside, which suits Cranleigh’s period homes and farmhouses particularly well. Our Aspire range offers over 50 door styles in almost 60 colours, from framed traditional doors to sleek modern fronts, made to measure up to 2.5m tall with soft-close hinges as standard. Hinged doors need space to open, so we’ll check your room first and suggest sliding doors if they’d suit it better. Painted oak effect and woodgrain finishes work especially well in country homes, while Super Matt colours such as sage and Highland Green suit a more contemporary scheme. Mirrors can be fitted inside the doors.
Made-to-Measure Wardrobes
Cottages and older homes in and around Cranleigh often have exposed beams, low or sloping ceilings and walls that are far from square, while loft conversions bring eaves and angles. We measure every slope and corner and build the wardrobe to follow them, using infill panels to square up uneven openings and doors that are shortened or angled to sit beneath a ceiling. You’ll see the design as hand-drawn plans or CGI images before anything is made. Converted barns and outbuildings can need the same careful approach.
Walk-In Wardrobes
Larger homes in the village and the surrounding countryside often have room for a walk-in wardrobe or dressing room, and even a corner or alcove can become a compact walk-in closet. We plan every interior around your clothes, with long and double hanging, pull-down hanging rails, drawers on full-extension runners, trouser racks, wire baskets and shoe storage. Leave it open, or add sliding doors for privacy. In a farmhouse or larger family home, a dressing room can include a dressing table and matching drawers, designed together so the whole space feels considered.
Bedroom Furniture
Complete the room with furniture made to match. We make dressing tables, chests of drawers, bedside cabinets, headboards, sideboards and shelving to your exact measurements, finished in the same colours as your wardrobe doors or chosen to complement them. Drawers run on full-extension runners with soft-close options, and we can deliver or install. In a cottage with uneven walls, made-to-measure furniture fits alcoves and low windowsills properly, where standard pieces would leave gaps. A dressing table can be built into a wardrobe run, and a media unit can give a bedroom TV a neat home. Come and see the finishes at our Dorking showroom.
Working from home in Cranleigh? We design fitted desks, shelving and storage to turn a spare room or alcove into a practical, good-looking office.
Turn the space under your stairs into made-to-measure drawers, cupboards and shelving, built to follow the slope exactly.
Local advice
Wardrobes are a big part of how a bedroom looks, so it’s worth thinking about style as well as storage. These are some of the ideas our Cranleigh customers are choosing.
1
Wardrobes don’t have to be white. Many customers are choosing deeper, natural shades such as sage green, Highland Green and Fjord Green, often paired with warm wood-effect worktops or brass and bronze handles. On a full wall of hinged doors, a strong colour becomes the focal point of the room.
2
At the other end of the scale, soft greys, cashmere and painted oak effects create a restful, timeless room that works with changing décor for years.
3
Floor-to-ceiling mirrored sliding doors remain one of the simplest ways to make a smaller bedroom feel bigger and brighter. Grey and Storm Grey mirrors give a softer, more contemporary look than classic silver.
4
Sliding doors don’t have to be one material. Combining mirror with coloured glass or panel infills, split with slim bars, adds interest across a wide run of doors.
5
Furniture made to match your wardrobes, such as a built-in dressing table or bedside cabinets in the same finish, gives the whole room a considered, finished look.
6
Handles are small, but they set the tone. Brushed brass or bronze suits a traditional cottage bedroom, while slim bar handles or handle-free doors keep a modern room clean and simple.
Local homes
Beams and low ceilings in older cottages: wardrobes need building around them, not just in front of them.
Uneven walls and floors: common in period homes and farmhouses around the village.
Small cottage bedrooms: limited space for doors to open, and small windows letting in little light.
Loft conversions: sloping ceilings and eaves to make use of.
Family homes outgrowing their storage: children’s rooms and main bedrooms that need more space for clothes.
Newer estate homes: compact second bedrooms with little built-in storage.
