Wardrobes in Dorking
Dorking isn’t just one of the towns we cover. It’s where we’re based. Our showroom and workshop sit in the Glebelands Centre on Vincent Lane, and every fitted wardrobe and piece of bedroom furniture we make is designed, cut and edged right here, then fitted in homes across the town and the Mole Valley.
That local knowledge matters, because Dorking’s homes are anything but standard. The old town around the High Street, West Street and South Street is full of 18th-century cottages with low ceilings, sloping floors and walls that are rarely square. Rose Hill has its 19th-century villas with tall rooms and chimney breasts, while Pixham, North Holmwood and the roads off the Horsham Road have everything from 1920s semis to modern family homes. Each one needs a different approach, and because we make everything ourselves, we never have to force a standard size into a space it doesn’t fit.
Whether you live in the town centre, out towards Westcott or Brockham, or in the villages under Box Hill and Leith Hill, you can see door styles and finishes at our showroom, then have us visit to measure up.

Our services
From a single pair of sliding doors to a full dressing room, every service is designed with you, made in our workshop and fitted by our own team.
Fitted Wardrobes
Many Dorking bedrooms have more height than a freestanding wardrobe can use, especially in the Victorian family homes and 1920s semis around Rose Hill, Pixham and the Deepdene side of town. A fitted wardrobe takes the storage all the way from floor to ceiling and wall to wall, so there’s no gap on top for boxes to collect and no strip at the side for dust. We build either as a front frame, using your walls and ceiling as part of the structure for the most storage, or as a full carcass with its own sides and back. Both are made from high-density Egger panels with 2mm ABS edging, cut to size a short drive from your home. You choose sliding or hinged doors, or a mix, in an almost unlimited choice of finishes.
Sliding Wardrobes
In the town-centre cottages and the newer apartments around Dorking, bedrooms are often too tight for doors to swing open. Sliding wardrobes solve that, gliding sideways so you can put the bed or a chest of drawers right up to them. Mirrored doors are particularly useful in older homes with small windows, bouncing light around the room and making it feel larger. We offer two door systems, the slim-framed Lazuryt and the bolder Shaker, with silver, grey and Storm Grey mirrors, AGC coloured glass or decorative panels. Every sliding door carries a 10-year warranty on its movement, and both systems are on display at our showroom so you can try them before you choose.
Hinged Wardrobes
Dorking has a lot of character homes, and hinged wardrobes often suit them best. Framed and panelled doors, cornices and traditional handles sit naturally in the period properties of the old town and the villas on Rose Hill, while flat Super Matt or High Gloss doors give the larger detached homes on the Horsham Road and Flint Hill a crisp, contemporary finish. Our Aspire range offers over 50 door styles in almost 60 colours, all made to measure up to 2.5m tall, with soft-close hinges as standard. Hinged doors need room to open, so they’re best in medium and larger bedrooms. If your room is tighter, we’ll suggest sliding doors instead, or a combination of both.
Walk-In Wardrobes
A walk-in wardrobe doesn’t need a mansion. In Dorking we’ve turned spare bedrooms into dressing rooms, screened off part of a large main bedroom and fitted compact corner closets into family homes. The bigger houses on the edge of town and in surrounding villages like Westcott and Mickleham often have the space for a full dressing room, with storage on several walls and room for a dressing table. Inside, we plan everything around your clothes: pull-down hanging rails to use the full height, trouser racks, tie and belt racks, wire baskets, shoe racks and internal drawers on full-extension runners. Add sliding doors for privacy, or leave it open for an airy, boutique feel.
Made-to-Measure Wardrobes
This is where being local really helps. Dorking’s oldest homes, particularly in the conservation area around the High Street and West Street, have the kind of rooms that defeat off-the-shelf furniture: sloping ceilings, beams, alcoves of different widths and walls that lean. Loft conversions across the town bring their own eaves and angles. We measure every slope and corner, then build the wardrobe to follow them, using infill panels to square up uneven openings and shortening or angling doors to sit beneath a ceiling line. You see the design as hand-drawn plans or full CGI images before anything is made, and our installers finish it so it looks as though it has always been part of the house.
Bedroom Furniture
Dorking is famous for its antique shops along West Street, and plenty of our customers love mixing a favourite vintage piece with fitted furniture. Whether you want everything to match or prefer to coordinate, we make dressing tables, chests of drawers, bedside cabinets, headboards, sideboards and shelving to your exact measurements, finished in the same colours as your wardrobe doors if you’d like a unified look. Drawers run on full-extension runners with soft-close options, and every piece is built from high-density board in our workshop. We deliver locally, and our team can install anything that needs to be fitted, from a dressing table built into a wardrobe run to a media unit for a bedroom TV.
Working from home in Dorking? We design fitted desks, shelving and storage to fit a box room, a spare bedroom or an alcove, finished to match the rest of your home.
Turn the awkward space under your stairs into made-to-measure drawers, cupboards and shelving for coats, shoes, laundry and everything else that needs a home.
Local advice
Choosing a wardrobe is much easier when you can see and touch the doors, so we always recommend starting with a visit to our showroom.

We’re at Unit 4, Glebelands Centre, Vincent Lane, Dorking RH4 3HW, just west of the town centre and a short walk from West Street and South Street. Dorking West station is under half a mile away, and there is ample free parking on site, so you don’t need to worry about town-centre parking.

The showroom is open by appointment, so we can give you our full attention. Our opening hours are Monday to Thursday 9am to 4pm, Friday 9am to 3pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm. Call 01306 741488 to book a time.
3
If you can, bring rough measurements of the space and a few photos of the room, including the ceiling and any sloping walls, alcoves or radiators. Don’t worry if you don’t have measurements yet: we’ll take precise ones at your home survey.
4
You’ll be able to try both of our sliding door systems, see mirror, glass and panel finishes side by side, and look through hinged door styles and colours. We’ll talk through how you use the room and what you need to store, and then arrange a home visit to measure up and start your design.
Local homes
Uneven walls, low ceilings and beams in the old town: the 18th-century cottages in Dorking’s conservation area rarely have a square corner, so standard wardrobes leave gaps, can’t stand level or won’t fit beneath a beam.
Chimney breast alcoves: Victorian homes around Rose Hill typically have alcoves either side of a chimney breast, and they’re almost never the same width.
Loft conversions: eaves and sloping ceilings in converted lofts need storage built to follow the slope.
Small bedrooms in cottages and flats: not enough space for hinged doors to swing, which is where sliding doors come in.
Spare rooms doing two jobs: with more people working from home, many Dorking spare rooms are now part office, part guest room.
Tall rooms in larger period houses: high ceilings where freestanding wardrobes leave the top of the wall unused.

Yes. Many of the homes we work in around Dorking’s old town have uneven walls, sloping floors and low ceilings. We measure every angle and use infill panels to square up the opening, so the finished wardrobe looks straight and the doors run true.
Fitted wardrobes are usually treated as furniture, but if your home is listed, works that affect its historic fabric can need listed building consent. If you live in a listed property in the town centre or elsewhere in Dorking, check with Mole Valley District Council before work starts, and we’ll design the wardrobe to minimise fixings into original walls.
Yes. As well as the town, we fit wardrobes and furniture in Westcott, Brockham, Box Hill, Mickleham, Westhumble, North Holmwood, Beare Green, Capel and the rest of the Mole Valley.
It depends on the size and complexity of your design. We’ll give you a realistic timeframe when we agree your plans.
