This Hersham customer wanted to bring together two things that usually compete for space in a bedroom: the television and the wardrobes. Rather than a TV on a stand in one corner and separate wardrobes in another, they asked for a single, stylish unit that would hold both, while still giving them plenty of room for clothes.
We designed a media unit that runs the full width of the wall, with the television set into a central recess at a comfortable viewing height from the bed. On either side, full-height wardrobes hold long hanging rails for coats, dresses and longer garments, so the media wall doubles as the main clothes storage for the room.
Around the television, we built a framework of shelves and cupboards. Inside, the shelving is laid out in a grid of different heights for folded clothes, accessories and everyday items, and the cupboards above and below the recess close over anything the customer doesn’t want on show.
The customer chose our Caraway full panel doors in Super Matt Alby Blue, with the carcass finished in the same colour so the unit reads as one solid piece, inside and out. It’s a bold, confident choice that turns the wall into the focal point of the room. Rectangular handles in satin brass add warmth and a touch of luxury against the deep blue.
A bedroom wall that does everything: the television sits neatly in its own space, the clothes are hidden away, and the whole unit looks like a deliberate design feature rather than a collection of furniture. The matt blue finish gives the room a rich, cosy feel, perfect for winding down at the end of the day.
It shows that a media unit doesn’t have to live in the living room. Built into a bedroom wardrobe run, it saves space and keeps the room calm and uncluttered.
